“Intersection of Lives”  unfolds as a polished, emotionally restrained urban portrait, weaving together threads of family tragedy and tension, moral crossroads, and quiet desperation. In just seven minutes, the short suggests a larger narrative shaped by the hard decisions ordinary people face in extraordinary circumstances. Strehlau’s camera moves with observational confidence, never rushing — letting glances, pauses, and unspoken grievances speak as loudly as dialogue. Visually, the film embraces a subdued realism: late-autumn light, raw interiors, and understated color palettes ground the world in authenticity. Editing is sharp but patient, allowing scenes to breathe while maintaining momentum. The performances, even in brief appearances, feel lived-in. A son’s frustration, a father’s defensive sternness, after the family tragedy of losing his wife – the mother of their sons, a couple’s heated exchange — all feel textured and real. The restrained score (or ambient silence) underscores human vulnerability without sentimentalizing it. If the short is any indication, Strehlau is building a story about moral accountability, fractured family bonds, and the fragile dignity of people in crisis. As the first known American 7-minute narrative short created fully with AI—transforming the director’s original e-drawings and storyboards into realistic cinematic motion— “Intersection of Lives” signals the arrival of a powerful drama built on tension, empathy, economic pressure, and the complex ways individuals navigate the hardest choices in their lives. The short highlights themes of family conflict, and moral uncertainty, elevated by grounded performances and confident visual storytelling. This seven-minute preview  on tension, empathy, and a deep understanding of how people navigate the hardest choices in their lives.

On June 21st, 2019, three different characters collide at a Brooklyn intersection; taking us on a life-changing journey in an urban melting pot.

This short is the first American AI seven-minute narrative short. It was created solely by Daniel Strehlau, based on his e-drawings, transformed into images and video, as well as text-to-image and text-to-video, using artificial intelligence tools; the director then edited, designed sound and music. Despite the demanding director’s work, the AI’s acting skills are approximately 70% and 25% of Strehlau’s expectations of real talent. Nothing can replace the energy of real people, and while the quality and characteristics of the AI are discernible, enjoy the sparks based on Daniel Strehlau’s 1997 script “Three Stories” and expect a true feature triptych… “Brooklyn.”

The short clips are available for broadcasting and the director is available for interviews or questions to share briefly his story with AI to get his vision done.
